Test results must be clearly reported to nursing and/or medical staff through direct communication or result entry by computer. The incumbent must consider the age of the patient when performing testing and releasing results. Must be able to communicate with a diverse patient population and their family when performing special procedures. Behavior promoting positive customer service is expected at all times. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Senior reports results in the Laboratory Information System. Communicating delays in patients care and assisting with technical questions for clinical lab assistants, physicians and nurses is expected. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of and observe all safety in a laboratory and hospital setting. Comprehensive knowledge must be maintained for all procedures that are required to be performed. Competency in work related skills must be demonstrated annually, or with new testing This does provide patient care. This may require driving to other Renown patient testing centers as assigned by the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor. Purpose: The Clinical Laboratory Scientist Senior will provide the technical supervision of the Clinical Laboratory in the absence of the Clinical Lab Supervisor and/or current management on site. The CLS Senior is responsible for ensuring accurate results are reported to the appropriate hospital staff and physicians in a timely, courteous and professional manner. Test results must be clearly reported to nursing and/or medical staff through direct communication or result entry by computer. The incumbent must consider the age of the patient when performing testing and releasing results. Must be able to communicate with a diverse patient population and their family when performing special procedures. Behavior promoting positive customer service is expected at all times. The Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Senior reports results in the Laboratory Information System. Communicating delays in patients care and assisting with technical questions for clinical lab assistants, physicians and nurses is expected. The incumbent must be knowledgeable of and observe all safety in a laboratory and hospital setting. Comprehensive knowledge must be maintained for all procedures that are required to be performed.
