Job Overview: Performs preventive andcorrective maintenance on material handling equipment, including daily systemsinspections of mechanical and electrical components to include but not limitedto material handling equipment, powered equipment and physical buildingstructures. Perform other duties as assigned. EssentialFunctions: Observesand listens to operating machines or equipment to diagnose machine malfunctionand determine need for adjustment or repair. Trouble shoot and repair material handlingequipment including sorters and conveyors. Identify problems requiring outsidevendors and inform the Manager or Supervisor. Performs preventative maintenance on materialhandling equipment, including daily systems inspections of mechanical,hydraulic and electrical components. Reports any problems to the Manager orSupervisor. Utilize the computerized maintenancemanagement system. Monitors, reports, and documents the usage and replacementof equipment and parts. Dismantles machine or equipment to examineparts for defect or to remove defective part. Replaces defective part with new part orrepairs or reproduces parts. Assembles and test operates machine to verifycorrection of malfunction. Maintains and lubricates machine tools andequipment. Performs preventative maintenance onfacility; carpentry, plumbing, and electrical duties. Knowledge of operation and safe storagepractices of ARC and MIG welding equipment to include OXY/ACETYLENE, and PLASMAwelding and cutting. Maintain a safe working environment at alltimes. Report possible safety concerns to the Manager or Supervisor. Assembles and test operates machine to verifycorrection of malfunction. Maintains and lubricates machine tools andequipment. Disassembles, inspects and performs routinerepairs and rebuilds of defective parts on all equipment associated with theautomated warehouse. May be required to install or rechargebatteries for any battery-powered material handling equipment. Adheres to all maintenance safe workpractices and maintains a safe working environment at all times. Removes dust, dirt, grease, and wastematerial from machines, and may paint machines or equipment to preventcorrosion. Performs basic electrical tasks associatedwith but not limited to replacing motors, fuses, and switches. Regular, dependable attendance and puntuality. Qualifications: Education/Experience: Highschool diploma or general education degree (GED); with two years of commercialor industrial maintenance related experience and/or training; or equivalentcombination of education and experience. CommunicationSkills: Strong verbal andwritten communication skills. Mustcommunicate with Shuttle office staff, Fleet Maintenance Adm., Receiving dockstaff, Big ticket management and carriers and drivers . MathematicalSkills: Adds,subtracts, and multiplies in all units of measure, using whole numbers, decimals and fractions . ReasoningAbility: Abilityto solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables insituations where only limited standardization exists. Ability tointerpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, orschedule form. PhysicalDemands: Thisposition involves regular walking, standing, sitting, hearing, and talking. May occasionally involve stooping,kneeling, or crouching. May involve close vision, color vision,depth perception, focus adjustment. May involve moving or lifting items up to25 pounds.
